NAPOLEON COUNCILMAN PASSES

A long-time Napoleon fire­man and a man who was cur­rently serv­ing as a mem­ber of the Napoleon City Coun­cil has passed away.

80 year old James Her­sh­berger died Tues­day at the Uni­ver­sity of Toledo Med­ical Cen­ter. Emer­gency crews answered a call for help on Mon­day evening at the Napoleon City Build­ing fol­low­ing a city coun­cil meet­ing.

Her­sh­berger was taken to the Henry County Hos­pi­tal, then moved by air ambu­lance to the Uni­ver­sity of Toledo Med­ical Cen­ter where he was pro­nounced dead.

Her­sh­berger was once the chief of the Napoleon Fire Depart­ment, serv­ing there for 30 years before he retired in 1989. Then he was elected to the city coun­cil where he served the past 20 years.

Her­sh­berger also served in the U.S. Army dur­ing the Korean War and was hon­or­ably dis­charged in 1955.
