The Williams County Fair Foundation Board met recently, and decided to nix the purchase of picnic tables for the fairgrounds. Previously, the board had agreed to spend about $2,000 for picnic tables at the fairgrounds. But after discussion, a motion to purchase the tables, using the proceeds of a recent fish fry, failed by a vote of 6 to 4. According to the Bryan Times, there was no specific reason given for the decision to not move forward with the picnic tables. On another note, the board learned that things are going great for the upcoming Tractor Show and Rib Fest, that is scheduled on July 24–26. The Fair Foundation agreed to work with the committee to provide food concessions as well as serve a pancake and sausage breakfast on the morning of Saturday, July 25.
