NSCC Labor Agreement Reached

The Northwest State Board of Trustees on Friday afternoon, unanimously voted to ratify the recommendations provided by a third party fact-finding organization and end an ongoing labor dispute. According to the Crescent News, the Northwest State Community College Education Association voted to ratify the new contract for the school’s educators. The faculty will operate under a contract that reaches back to August 2014 and extends to August 2017. The teachers, who were working under a pay freeze for the past few years, will now see a 2-percent increase in salary on a yearly basis. One of the main items in the third-party recommendation was the establishment of a labor management committee in order to facilitate communication for other ongoing disputes, including contract bargaining for non-teaching staff. The full State Employment Relations Board report will be released today online at the SERB website, serb.state.oh.us.
