The Ohio Department of Health has posted draft regulations for the installation, registration, and use of “newborn safety incubators,” and is taking public comments on those regulations until July 7. Legislation legalizing the so-called “baby boxes” in Ohio went into effect April 4 and the draft regulations “set forth the requirements pertaining to the registration of authorized locations, installers, access portal doors, alarm systems, sanitation and monitoring of newborn safety incubators,” according to a June 7 ODH memo outlining the regulations.
