Back in 2011, faced with mounting financial pressures, the United States Postal Service identified 3,700 post office locations which they termed “underutilized”, to be studied for possible closure.
Locally, those post offices included the Scott and Latty post offices in Paulding County, Pettisville in Fulton County and Ridgeville Corners in Henry County.
On Tuesday, the Post Office said that the decision has been made to keep both the Latty and Scott post offices open, but with reduced hours.
Decisions on other area post offices may soon be coming as well. Post office officials say they are trying to make practical business decisions while at the same time, doing all they can to serve their customers.
