The Montpelier Village Council approved a power purchase agreement that will help offset market fluctuations for next three years. The pact the village had with the Public Service Enterprise Group is set to expire at the end of this year, officials say. In order to combat those fluctuations, officials recommended they enter a Fix Volume Energy Schedule with American Municipal Power. The agreement would purchase a 1 megawatt block of power, which would supply energy to customers Monday through Friday during the 16 peak hours of the day.
