PUBLIC MEETING ABOUT A CHICKEN FARM DRAWS A CROWD

A pub­lic meet­ing was held Tues­day con­cern­ing the pro­posed Hil­lan­dale Egg Farms.

More than 50 showed up at the Huber Opera House and Civic Cen­ter at Hicksville to voice their con­cerns and get answers.

Hil­lan­dale Farms is gath­er­ing the nec­es­sary per­mits from the state. The $85 Mil­lion oper­a­tion will be on the cor­ner of Rosedale Road and Ohio 18 in Hicksville, and it’s expected to employ over 100. Plans even­tu­ally call for four mil­lion hens, lay­ing 250,000 dozen eggs a day.

Pend­ing receipt of per­mits, con­struc­tion is expected to begin in late May or early June.
