Somewhere in Bryan there is a raccoon that doesn’t know how lucky it is to be alive. The Bryan Times reports around 6:10 p.m. Tuesday, a resident in the 600 block of South Cherry Street called the Bryan Police Department to report a raccoon was sitting on her front porch. The dispatcher advised her to contact an animal control specialist. Instead, the caller stated she had a gun and was more than happy to “take care of the problem herself.” The dispatcher advised her not to, explaining that a city ordinance prohibits the discharge of firearms within city limits. When an officer responded to the woman’s residence, he reported that the animal had left her property prior to his arrival and had escaped without a trace. No report as to which direction it went.
