Remembering lost children with holiday ceremony

For fam­i­lies who’ve lost a child, this is a dif­fi­cult time of year. A non-denominational sup­port group, Heal­ing Hearts, is hold­ing a spe­cial tree-decorating cer­e­mony on Dec. 13 at their memo­r­ial gar­den at Pon­tiac Park in Defi­ance. The orga­ni­za­tion of res­i­dents from area coun­ties encour­age heal­ing by remem­ber­ing their chil­dren and plac­ing orna­ments on the tree together. The com­mem­o­ra­tion begins at 1 p.m. on the 13th. The group meets monthly on the first Mon­day in the Defi­ance County Senior Center.
