Republican lawmakers in Ohio to sign resolution endorsing the demolition of the U.S. Department of Education.

This week, Republican lawmakers in Ohio will formally sign a resolution endorsing the Trump administration’s demolition of the U.S. Department of Education. As President Donald Trump has pledged since the start of his second term, resolutions calling for Congress to disband the federal department are scheduled in both houses of the General Assembly. Education “is not a power entrusted to the federal government and has always been managed by states and local communities accountable to families,” according to the Ohio resolution’s wording. It continues by stating that academic achievement has “stagnated or decreased” as a result of federal participation.
