Romes Steps Down

Former Williams County Sheriff’s Lieutenant, Jeff Romes…the subject of internal and criminal investigations…has resigned. Romes had been placed on paid administrative leave on March 20, pending both criminal and internal investigations. He then resigned, effective May 1, prior to completion of the sheriff’s office internal investigation, completed Wednesday. Officials say the investigation does not have anything to do with former Sheriff Steve Towns…who resigned earlier this year.
