A former Swanton village clerk is sentenced in a Fulton County courtroom to prison for stealing a large amount of money from the city while employed there. Kari Rowe, 47, gets an 18-month prison term for theft in office, a third-degree felony. She also was ordered to pay restitution of $128,684 dollars to Swanton Village for funds taken from June 25-Sept. 8. A charge of tampering with records, a third-degree felony, was dismissed as part of a plea deal in the case. Rowe pled guilty to the charge on Feb. 3 when a pre-sentence investigation was ordered.
