Schappert Case Update

A Defiance woman who stole more than $100,000 dollars from a local VFW post is sentenced to community control and ordered to make restitution in a Defiance County courtroom. Cari Schappert was placed on community control for five years…with conditions, including that she make the restitution to the VFW post in Defiance. Schappert had pleaded no contest to the charges on Feb. 13 when she was found guilty and a pre-sentence investigation was ordered. Prosecutors say…she took the money over approximately three years.
