Ohio Democratic U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown has introduced a bill to address invasive species in the Great Lakes, and perhaps no species is more invasive, or consistently on Ohio’s radar, than the notorious Asian Carp. Sen. Brown recently introduce legislation to implore President Donald Trump to pay more attention to the problem. A group of bipartisan members of Congress from Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois, recently introduced the Stop Asian Carp Now Act, which Senator Brown’s office says will ‘compel’ the Trump administration to release a critical study they hope will provide guidance on how to stop the spread of the invasive species into the Great Lakes. Asian Carp disrupt food chains and are destroying the fishing economy of the Midwest region.
