Voters in the primary election Tuesday will pick among three candidates for sheriff in the Republican primary. And with Sheriff, Steve Towns agreeing to resign after the primary as part of a plea deal to avoid felony charges, Williams County Commissioners say Tuesday’s winner almost certainly will be appointed as the new sheriff, to serve at least until January, when Towns’ term is up.
