Shootout In Kendallville

Kendallville Police responds to a shots being fired call at an apartment complex on Berry Lane near Drake Road. When the cops get there…an unidentified male suspect begins shooting at them from a second story apartment balcony. There was an exchange of gunfire between the suspect and the officers. The suspect retreated into the apartment and continued firing multiple rounds at officers from inside the apartment. After several hours…the standoff ends…as a SWAT team gets into the apartment. The suspect was taken into custody soon after that. Soon after…the gunman was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation into the case continues.
