Shootout in Steuben County

The Indiana State Police is investigating an officer-involved shooting during a homicide investigation early Sunday in Angola. Officers responded to a home in the 400 block of North Elizabeth Street for a shots-fired call. When officers arrived, they found two deceased males outside the residence. Detectives and Crime Scene investigators from the Indiana State Police Ft. Wayne Post were requested to assist with this investigation. Then…a few hours later…officers encountered a male that matched the description of the person suspected of the shooting. Officers say…that’s when he displayed a handgun and engaged in an exchange of gunfire with officers. The male then fled on foot eastbound on West Felicity Street. Nearby…more shooting…this time…the suspect is shot by the police. The suspect was taken to Cameron Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The incident involved three officers with Angola Police and one Indiana State Trooper. This is an ongoing investigation.
