Smith Case Update

The pretrial hearing for a Toledo man, accused of stabbing a Montpelier woman to death in February 2020…is pushed back on the docket for a sixth time. Thomas Smith, 24, was scheduled for a pretrial conference in Lucas County. It’s now set for March, 6th. Last March, Smith pled not guilty. A pretrial hearing was initially slated for late April but was pushed back to May, then August, then October, then November, then for Tuesday, when it was again moved back. Court officials in Toledo say they continue to struggle with a backlog of court proceedings…coronavirus.
