Smith Trial Update

A hearing for a Toledo man, accused of murdering a Montpelier woman, has again been delayed. Thomas Smith was scheduled for a pretrial conference but it has been pushed back to Oct. 13…coronavirus. Prosecutors say Smith stabbed Danialle Swan, several times as she entered a gas station in Toledo. In March, Smith pled not guilty to the charges. In early May, Smith’s defense team resubmitted the plea as not guilty by reason of insanity. Smith was found competent to stand trial, a few weeks earlier.
