Stark Is Sentenced

The father of a local infant, who died in 2016 due to an apparent lack of medical care, is sentenced in Defiance County. Jared Stark was placed on community control for four years by Judge Joseph Schmenk on a charge of reckless homicide and abuse of a corpse. Stark also was fined $5,000 and ordered to make $2,500 restitution to help cover the cost of the investigation. Stark had pleaded guilty to the charges back in January. The plea agreement averts a possible defense based on religious grounds associated with medical care for the child.
