Storage unit thefts on the rise

In Steuben County, the Sheriff’s Department is trying to find whomever is responsible for a series of break–ins at storage units located on CR 300 W south of State Route 120. Tools, lawn mowing equipment, generators, ATV’s, power tools, die cast collector cars, and a 28 foot Hal-Mark enclosed trailer with a custom Corvette paint scheme were stolen. It is believed the burglary happened overnight on June 8th. Anyone who may have seen something suspicious in the area is being asked to contact the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office. Thefts have been reported from other storage units over the past few months. Patrols have been increased to these areas; however, there are many of these facilities throughout the county.
