STORM CAUSES WIDESPREAD DAMAGE

A storm late Sat­ur­day after­noon, dam­aged sev­eral homes and busi­nesses, and left thou­sands with­out power.

Toledo Edi­son reported 1,864 cus­tomers with­out power Sat­ur­day night. The major­ity of those with­out power — 1,732 — were in Defi­ance.

Other out­ages were reported in Delaware, Defi­ance, Noble, High­land and Rich­land town­ships.

Sev­eral fam­i­lies went to shel­ters pro­vided by the Amer­i­can Red Cross after trees fell onto their homes.

The National Weather Ser­vice says wind gusts up to 60 mph and pea and dime-sized hail were reported.

Downed trees were reported in many areas.
