Early voting got underway Wednesday morning in Defiance County with more than 150 people casting their ballots, according to elections officials. Additionally, officials mailed out nearly 1,800 absentee ballots Wednesday morning. These were sent to persons who had requested one from the board of elections. Early voting hours are uniform in all 88 Ohio counties from now through Nov. 7, the day before Election Day, when polls will open at 6:30 p.m. and close at 7:30 p.m. More than 4,400 voters cast their ballots early in 2018 in Defiance County. That was a comparable election in that state races such as governor, secretary of state and attorney general also were on the ballot, in addition to Ohio Statehouse and U.S. congressional district political races.
