Sorta like getting sent to your room. The Bryan Police Department is operating without its chief and assistant chief…after both are put on administrative leave…effective immediately. This comes after the two men butted heads in public session during Monday’s city council meeting. Mohre, who had more than four decades of local law enforcement experience before he joined the force in Bryan in January…says he has been berated and belittled by Chapa…while Chapa says his assistant chief is standoffish and uncommunicative. We reported all this came to a head during an incident in which Mohre, after a heated discussion with Chapa, went home from work early. Chapa?…apparently follows him to his house…from work. Mohre asks him to leave his property…but Chapa gets into Mohre’s home…after Mohre opened a door to let his wife inside, apparently. The hope is…the time away will cool tempers…and the rhetoric.
