Train Derailment

A train derail­ment spilled tons of coal just east of County Road 55 in DeKalb County near Auburn.

Accord­ing to CSX, at least 12 cars derailed, and the dam­age to the tracks and the cars was exten­sive.

WFFT reports that one per­son who told them they had lived next to the tracks for more than twenty years, said they knew some­thing was wrong when they heard a loud squeal that got louder and louder as the train approached.

Offi­cials say the cleanup could take days, and then the tracks will need to be repaired too.

Nobody was hurt.
