Train/Dump Truck Collide Near Defiance

A train acci­dent Wednes­day morn­ing near Defi­ance… A CSX train and a dump truck col­lided at a cross­ing on Tit­tle Road just after 9:30 yes­ter­day morn­ing. There were six engines on the west­bound train. All were dam­aged, includ­ing dam­age to the fuel tanks on each engine. The train took amost a mile to come to a stop after hit­ting the truck, which was dri­ven by Charles Stilt­ner of Edger­ton. Stilt­ner was taken to ProMed­ica Defi­ance Regional Hos­pi­tal with back and neck injuries. The train’s con­duc­tor was also taken to ProMed­ica Defi­ance Regional Hos­pi­tal with back injuries. The engi­neer was not hurt. The inves­ti­ga­tion into just exactly what hap­pened lead­ing up to the crash is under­way by police and CSX authorities.
