A trooper from the Van Wert post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol was one of three people injured when a vehicle slammed into his marked patrol car as he was assisting a stranded motorist Monday morning. Trooper Jared Miller was taken to Paulding County Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries as a result of the patrol car being struck from behind on Ohio 613 in Paulding County. It happened around 11:30AM on Monday, when 79 year old Ray Mullins of Oakwood, who was eastbound on Ohio 613, slammed into the stationary cruiser and one of the other parked vehicles that was waiting on a tow truck to arrive. 24 year old Lauren Teague of Fort Wayne, was taken to an area hospital for treatment of minor facial injuries she sustained when her vehicle was struck by Mullins’ vehicle.
Mullins was treated at the scene by Oakwood EMS for a minor facial injury. Alcohol or drugs are not considered to be a factor in the crash. So far, no charges have been filed. The crash is still under investigation.
