Utility companies reporting scammers calling customers

With the new year come a new round of scams in Williams County and northwest Ohio…local utilities have received reports from their customers that they are receiving phone calls from an individual pretending to be their electric service provider. Authorities are not sure if it is just one individual or several involved in the scam. The scammer ask for account numbers and personal information. Utility companies are cautioning consumers NOT PROVIDE THE CALLER ANY INFORMATION! Local utilities will never ask for your personal information via telephone. If you do receive a call like this, just hang up. Customers are encouraged to contact their utility provider if they have any questions.
