A confrontation with a freight train left two men lucky to escape with only minor injuries Sunday morning. The accident happened yesterday just before 6AM in DeKalb County at County Road 47, when 21 year old David Albert of Butler tried to cross the tracks as the crossing arms were activated for an eastbound train. Albert apparently tried to beat the train but he didn’t make it. His 2004 Ford was struck in the right front corner, causing it to spin 90 degrees and then be shoved for about 50 feet. Albert complained of leg pain. His passenger, 20-year-old Blake Mann of Auburn, was treated for minor lacerations. Investigators say they believe alcohol was a contributing factor. The crash remains under investigation today.
