Village of Edgerton is considering entering into a consortium with four other villages to purchase solar power

The Village of Edgerton is considering entering into a consortium with four other villages to purchase solar power at a potentially great price. During the village council meeting Monday evening, the council voted to hire an attorney — Gregg Ottinger of Duncan and Allen — to assist in negotiations for the purchasing contract. Village Administrator Dawn Fitzcharles said at the meeting the cost of the attorney alone will be $1,200. The Bryan Times reports Fitzcharles stressed the village has not moved forward with the plan, yet, but is simply working with four other villages to work out an agreement. She added that Edgerton is part of several joint ventures with American Municipal Power. She declined to name the partners in the consortium, but did confirm they were working with Montpelier.
