Pauld­ing County vot­ers rejected a renewal levy for the county library sys­tem.

Accord­ing unof­fi­cial results, the 2.17-mill, five-year renewal levy for the Pauld­ing County Carnegie Library Sys­tem was defeated. The levy would have brought $694,576.94 a year to the library dis­trict, accord­ing to infor­ma­tion from the Pauld­ing County auditor’s office.

On Tues­day, Defi­ance County Repub­li­cans nom­i­nated Mark Holts­berry to run against Demo­c­rat Bob Burkley for county com­mis­sioner in the Novem­ber elec­tion. Holts­berry defeated incum­bent Fred Pieper in the pri­mary.

Tony Burkley got wide Repub­li­can sup­port for re-election as the state rep­re­sen­ta­tive for the 82nd Dis­trict. Burkley defeated chal­lenger Brett Eley 1,508 to 225, accord­ing to unof­fi­cial results.
