County commissioners pass a resolution subtracting $5,000 from an increase already approved for this year’s Sheriff’s budget. In a 2-1 split vote last month, they agreed to increase the sheriff’s budget by $160,000 to hire and pay the salaries of two new road deputies, cover the cost of pay raises through the end of the year from a recently-ratified new union contract, and to purchase one new vehicle. After a final review this week, it was determined that $155,000 would meet the sheriff’s needs.
