The Williams County Health Department Board met this week to consider a variance request for a septic system. The Health Department presented a variance request on behalf of a county homeowner, which was made due to elevation changes, a geothermal unit and unsuitable soil in certain areas, making options for placement limited. The contractor proposed splitting the system into two zones. However, Ohio regulations require a 50-foot separation if installed on a slope, and the design only allows about 12-15 feet between the sections.
