Lacking a quorum, the special meeting of the West Unity Village Council to discuss marijuana-related legislation was canceled Thursday night. Council will meet again in regular session at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 8. The Bryan Times reports council called the meeting to addresses the issue of retail dispensing and production of medical marijuana within the village. Ohio Substitute House Bill 523 was approved by a 71-26 vote in May and signed by Ohio Gov. John Kasich on June 9. It authorizes the use of marijuana for medical purposes, with a prescription, and establishes parameters for cultivation, processing and dispensing of the increasingly popular medicine.
