After a short executive session during Thursday’s regular meeting, West Unity Village Council rejected the single bid received for the previous village hall. The Bryan Times reports that, after the village’s late-December move to a nearby modern, renovated building at 224 W. Jackson St., council decided to take bids on the old village hall, 118 W. Jackson St. Mayor Peggy Bernath indicated that the county auditor will be asked to re-evaluate the value of the old building. There is a concern that the current value is inflated which would result in higher property taxes for potential purchasers. After the re-evaluation, council will consider taking bids again.
