Wet Weather Is Taking A Toll

So far, it’s been a wet start to the summer in Williams County. The National Weather Service says more than five inches of rain has fallen here since just last Thursday. In the Bryan area, the weather service says 5.27 inches of rain fell in the three-day period from June 27–29. That rain came on top of 11.27 inches already reported in Williams County before the weekend, breaking the previous record of 11 inches that was set in July 1986. Area farmers are now dealing with ponding in fields, which will also likely create additional problems down the road after the waters recede. On Saturday, more than 40 county road s were either closed or impassable due to flooding.
