Williams County Agricultural Society board approves 2017 budget

The Williams County Agricultural Society on Thursday approved its 2017 budget at $579,500, about $125,000 more than 2016’s budget. The majority of the increase is an estimated $100,000 in a single capital outlay for the new goat barn, said the fair board’s accountant, Robin Brinegar, a certified public accountant with Shultz and Huber. The fair board previously agreed to spend $50,000 to match a $50,000 grant from the state that’s directed for demolition of the old goat barn and construction of a new one. The state grant portion will be covered by the fair board until it’s reimbursed by the state.
