The Williams County Health Department has reapplied for a Safe Communities grant for the upcoming fiscal year. It will fund the Safe Communities Coalition, which promotes traffic safety and aims to decrease traffic fatalities and injuries through partnering with local schools, public safety agencies and community groups. The Health Education and Preparedness Division Report from the health department indicates no fatal crashes in the county this past May, with three fatal crashes and five serious injuries suspected in 2023, so far. The Safe Communities Coalition sponsors events and programs with the intention of preventing these outcomes, including the Buckle Up Bowl.
