The Environmental Health division of the Williams County Health District is seeking to compile an inventory of all septic systems in the county, as part of a comprehensive Operations and Maintenance Plan for septic systems. The district also has funds available to income-qualified homeowners to update or install a new system. Environmental Director Brad Price estimates there are 4,500 to 5,500 homes with septic systems in Williams County, and he said the county has permit records on about half all homes with septic systems- generally, all those installed since about the early 1970s. So the first part of the operations and maintenance plan is to compile an inventory of all houses in the county with septic systems.
