In housing construction news, the Williams County Port Authority is in the process of getting an open mortgage from a bank to help with constructing houses. Dave Newcomer, authority chair, said the plan is to build several dozen homes, which will cost close to $3 million, funds the authority doesn’t have. That led the group to look into having an open mortgage with a bank, Sean Rupp, authority member, said. “We need to borrow money to finance the bulk of the houses this summer,” he said. Newcomer said if it works out that the units are sold as they are built, then the board won’t need to borrow as much cash.
