Williams County Re-Activating Port Authority

The Williams County Port Authority is being restarted, with Bill Pepple designated, by the county commissioners, as the new Port Authority Chairman. The Williams County Port Authority was formed back in 2007, but has not been operating for the past several years. A Port Authority is a governmental entity that facilitates economic activity, capital investment, and job creation and retention. They don’t have to have access to a body of water either, despite the name. In Ohio, there are actually 55 port authorities statewide. In re-activating the port authority, Williams County Commissioners said, according to the Bryan Times, that the see it as a complementary economic development agency to the Williams County Economic Development Corporation. The new director… Pepple, said he will also continue his work as executive director of the United Way of Williams County.
