The founder and owner of MetalX confirms a dozen or more terminations at its Delta processing plant, due to shifts in the metal scrap market. Danny Rifkin says between 15% and 20% of the company’s local 55-person workforce at their Highway 109 location was let go through a gradual process between May and October. They were included in a total of around 45 employees fired from MetalX plants in Auburn and Waterloo. They say scrap metal prices have fallen around 50 percent over the last year.
