The Relay for Life of Defiance will be held today at an indoor location, the George M. Smart Center on Webster Street on the north end of Defiance College campus. The relay will begin at 6 p.m. with the survivor’s lap and continue through the night, with closing ceremonies to begin at 5 a.m. Saturday and the relay wrapping up at 6 a.m. The relay was moved to the college because of construction at the new Defiance High School site. The relay is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, with proceeds going toward assisting cancer patients and cancer research. There will be craft vendors, a live auction, silent auction and teams will be selling food. You don’t have to be on a team to enjoy the Relay for Life. They’re hoping to raise $109,000.
