Bryan Municipal Utilities won’t be raising its cable rates in 2017

Despite continued increases in programming costs, Bryan Municipal Utilities won’t be raising its cable rates in 2017. BMU Director Rob Berner said at Tuesday’s Board of Public Affairs meeting that BMU is in the process of evaluating the city’s communications operations. He said it appears as though the department will need to make some changes in the near future, including spending on infrastructure and new technologies. Berner acknowledged that spending will likely eventually result in increased rates for BMU cable customers, but he hoped freezing the rates for 2017 would keep BMU from losing cable viewers in the meantime.
