Continental Village Council on Tuesda night approved the purchase of a new police car.
Council talked to the police chief, asking for his choice of either a Chevy Impala or Equinox.
In the end, council voted to purchase a 2014 Chevy Tahoe with four-wheel drive.
The new vehicle will cost the village $27,714 through the state of Ohio’s list of available vehicles, with other expenses added on to cover the cost of a new light bar, painting the police insignia, etc. Money for the car was budgeted through the police fund, which comes from tax levies. About $40,000 was budgeted for a new police car this year. The current 2003 Chevy Impala police car needs to be replaced. The new vehicle will be delivered within three to six months.
