CONTINENTAL COUNCIL APPROVES NEW POLICE CAR

Con­ti­nen­tal Vil­lage Coun­cil on Tuesda night approved the pur­chase of a new police car.

Coun­cil talked to the police chief, ask­ing for his choice of either a Chevy Impala or Equinox.

In the end, coun­cil voted to pur­chase a 2014 Chevy Tahoe with four-wheel drive.

The new vehi­cle will cost the vil­lage $27,714 through the state of Ohio’s list of avail­able vehi­cles, with other expenses added on to cover the cost of a new light bar, paint­ing the police insignia, etc. Money for the car was bud­geted through the police fund, which comes from tax levies. About $40,000 was bud­geted for a new police car this year. The cur­rent 2003 Chevy Impala police car needs to be replaced. The new vehi­cle will be deliv­ered within three to six months.
