Defiance man facing multiple rape charges

79 year old Miguel Urdiales of Hawthorne Drive in Defiance has pleaded not guilty in Defiance County Common Pleas Court to four counts of rape. A pretrial hearing was scheduled for June 6 and bond was set at $500,000 cash. Authorities allege that between 2002 and 2003, and between 2011 and 2012, Urdiales engaged in sexual conduct with two different females on two or more occasions and that each was under 13 years of age at the time of the incidents. Due to the ages of the victims, the charges are punishable by life imprisonment.
