A Bryan man was sentenced Wednesday to five years of community control for planting homemade bombs at the home of a Van Wert woman a year ago.
Ronald McBride was accused of blowing up something and starting fires on the front yard of the woman’s home on Zook Road last September.
The woman said she first met the 43 year old McBride on a dating website, and she said he was stalking her.
McBride eventually admitted to making the devices in his barn and setting them in the woman’s yard.
With the sentence handed down Wednesday, McBride avoided jail time thanks to a record free of any prior criminal convictions.
In addition to the community control, The Bryan Times reports that McBride must spend three years under intense supervision and 60 days on house arrest with an electronic monitor. He is prohibited from entering Van Wert County without permission from his probation officer and he was also ordered to pay court costs.
