Ballot Issue Goes Down In Vote

Legislative Republicans in Indiana reject a Democratic attempt to lift requirements that voters give a reason for seeking to cast a ballot by mail. The House Elections Committee voted 7-5 against the proposal. It would’ve eliminated the current law, limiting mail-in absentee ballots to voters for reasons including being out of the county or working during Election Day voting hours. Democratic say the current law discourages mail-in ballots and is a barrier to voting.
