Train Derailment In Swanton

A train hits an SUV on the tracks in Swanton, causing a derailment and power outage. 13 train cars left the rails, between Main Street and Munson Road, some dangerously close to homes along the tracks. Residents in the immediate area were evacuated for a time, due to the possibility of a gas explosion. Power was lost throughout most of the Swanton area. Over 4,000 customers were affected at one point. No injuries reported.
