Deadly Accident Near Assumption

One person is killed in a two-vehicle crash on West Central Avenue, near North Berkey Southern Road, just outside of Assumption. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Officials say a pickup truck, driven by the unnamed driver, was westbound on Central when it traveled left of center, hitting a dump truck. The driver of that vehicle, Kenneth Knitz of Deshler, suffered minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Fire consumed the wreckage. An investigation into the crash is underway.
